I am a wedding photographer based in Fresno, CA. For the past 3 years I have been capturing adventurous love stories and helping others feel loved and supported throughout their wedding experience. If there isn't a camera in my hand, you would find me watching Friends or The Office, eating Chick-fil-A, and hanging our with my hubby and puppy.
There are many beautiful and meaningful ways to incorporate unity into your wedding ceremony. Here are some ideas:
Unity Candle: The Unity Candle is a classic wedding tradition that involves lighting a candle together as a symbol of two becoming one. Each partner lights a smaller candle, then together they use their individual candles to light one larger candle.
Sand Ceremony: This unity involves pouring colored sand into a single container, symbolizing the coming together of two individuals. The couple can choose sand colors that represent their personalities and blend them together in a vase or jar.
Tree Planting: This ceremony involves planting a tree together as a symbol of the couple’s growth and commitment to each other. The tree can be planted in a pot or in a location that is special to the couple.
Unity Braid: You have three strings hanging on either a cross or a backdrop. There’s a string or rope for each of the bride and groom and then one that represents God. You tie them together in a braid because a braid is a bond that can’t be broken. It is important to keep God in your marriage so this is why He is braided together in their unity.
Communion: Something that you can do together is communion. This is when you share bread and wine together and pray over your marriage allowing God to be present.
Shots: Some couples like to take a shot of their favorite alcohol together. Something to do together to start off their unity that they can cheers to.
