I had the pleasure of having lunch with Dee from Pretty & Posh Events and got to ask her all the questions relating to wedding coordinating! Pretty & Posh Events offers day-of coordinating for weddings and events. Wedding coordinating is normally something that brides and grooms skip because they want to save money. So if a professional wedding coordinator isn’t helping then who is… your family most likely. They will get stressed, which will make you stressed and you do not need that on your wedding day.
I highly encourage hiring a day-of coordinator for your wedding day so your family and friends can enjoy the day. They help take the stress away while you get to live each moment to the fullest. They handle the timeline, the vendors, the setup, the clean-up, the accidents that may happen, and pretty much anything that helps the day run smoothly.
The best advice Dee gave me to share with brides and grooms is that they need to think about the 4 hours before the wedding starts. Who is helping set up? Who is checking in with the vendors? Who is making sure everyone is going according to the timeline? There’s SO much that goes on hours before the wedding that we don’t think about. Normally, all the bride and bridesmaids think about is getting their hair and make-up done in the morning. They should be focused on having fun in the morning and not stressed about setting the tables.
Here are questions to think about for those 4 hours before the wedding starts.
If you feel like you need to save money, I still suggest getting someone to be in charge of the schedule on your wedding day. If no one is there keeping things moving, then it will normally fall on the photographer or DJ. They need to focus on what they were hired to do so please think about hiring a day-of coordinator!
